KP Solar Scheme
This solar system scheme has been tailored to provide affordable and efficient solar energy solutions to those most in need, with special focus on people who have been struggling due to frequent electricity load shedding and high utility costs. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to promoting social welfare while also contributing to the fight against climate change by encouraging the use of renewable energy sources.
Two tiers have been created under this scheme,
- Provision of solar systems with zero markup for those consuming up to 100 units of electricity in the first tier
One of the key features of this solar initiative is the provision of solar systems with zero markup for households that consume up to 100 units of electricity in the first tier. This tier is specifically designed for low-income households, allowing them to access solar energy without the added financial burden of interest. This subsidy ensures that vulnerable families, who have been severely affected by high electricity costs, will have a reliable and affordable source of power.
- Provision of solar systems with 50% partnership and mutually agreed markup for electricity consumers up to 200 units
For those who consume up to 200 units of electricity, the government offers solar systems with a 50% partnership and a mutually agreed markup. This means that the government will cover half of the cost of the solar system, while the remaining amount will be covered by the consumer with a reasonable markup. This model encourages energy conservation while still making the installation of solar systems affordable for families who may be consuming a moderate amount of electricity.
